Everything to Know About Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again took a very long time to come to fruition, with the revival of the Netflix Daredevil series undergoing a total creative overhaul after six episodes were filmed. Fortunately, the wait was worth it, with Season 1 drawing plenty of raves for its storytelling and surprisingly topical story. Marvel was already deep in production on Season 2 by the time the first season had premiered, so as soon as the season ended in April, it was time to look ahead toward whatever is next.

And it's pretty much impossible to not look ahead after Season 1, which wrapped up on a rather intense cliffhanger ending that left the fate of New York City in the balance, as Mayor Kingpin declared martial law and started deporting political dissidents and other people he doesn't like to a secret international prison — an uncomfortably topical plot thread right now in the USA.

Daredevil: Born Again latest news

Despite some mixed messages from star Charlie Cox, Daredevil: Born Again will be back for more after Season 2. Marvel streaming boss Brad Winderbaum told IGN that the series has already been renewed for Season 3 and is already planning to shoot early next year around when Season 2 airs. With the renewal coming so early, it's very likely that Season 2 will directly set up whatever is coming after, rather than close off the ongoing storylines.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 expected release date

After the Season 1 finale dropped, current showrunner Dario Scardapane posted on Instagram that Season 2 is planned to drop next March. 

Will any other Netflix characters appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

Born Again brought back a ton of key folks from the original Netflix Daredevil series, but the Netflix-era Matt Murdock also had several super-powered friends who had their own shows, like Luke Cage and Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Conspicuously, none of those folks, except for The Punisher, were even alluded to during Season 1 — but that's going to change in Season 2, as Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones. We don't know anything about the status of Luke Cage or Danny Rand/Iron Fist, but since Jessica Jones was the most acclaimed of all Netflix's Marvel shows, it's not particularly surprising that they'd bring her back first.

The news of a renewal for Season 3 will only spark further speculation about this, since bringing the whole gang back together would be exactly the sort of feat that might warrant an early renewal, since it would hypothetically go ahead and let them bring back Luke and Danny (or whoever) in Season 2 instead of having to wait and see how things go. Whatever the reality ends up being, however, it's nice to see some real forethought from Marvel during this exceptionally haphazard era it's been going through since Avengers: Endgame.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 cast and crew

Daredevil: Born Again underwent all sorts of creative changes while it was under production, including a complete overhaul of its plot in order to directly connect the revival back to the previous iteration of Netflix's Daredevil. Those changes included the replacement of most of the main behind-the-scenes creatives, with Dario Scardapane taking over showrunner duties for Season 1 reshoots. Scardapane will continue in that role for Season 2.

Likewise, the whole surviving cast will also return, as will Elden Henson as the late Foggy Nelson — who will presumably appear in flashbacks, since it was his investigation that started off the plot in the first episode of Born Again. Deborah Ann Woll is likewise expect to appear more in Season 2 as Karen Page, which would make sense as she and Matt had a little reunion in the Season 1 finale. Foggy and Karen were left out of the original plans for this reboot, but were added to Season 1 in reshoots.

Camila Rodriguez, who played the niece of the White Tiger (Kamar de los Reyes) in Season 1, is also returning. In the comics, her character Angela Del Toro becomes another iteration of the White Tiger — and since her uncle died in Season 1, it makes perfect sense for her to take on the White Tiger mantle on this series as well.

As for new folks, it appears that Season 2 will add the talents of Lili Taylor and Matthew Lillard in unknown roles.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 storylines

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again should directly pick up from Season 1's big cliffhanger ending, in which Matt and pals discover that Kingpin, who just instituted martial law in New York, essentially set up his own independent nation on the Red Hook docks, where he has a big secret makeshift prison full of people he dislikes, like The Punisher. Though with Season 1 ending with The Punisher escaping from that prison, it may not be secret for very long.

In truth, it was Foggy who discovered the reality that Red Hook was not technically American soil, and it was that specific discovery that led to his death even though Foggy himself didn't seem to fully understand the full consequences of that information. But if Foggy is returning, there must still be more to his part of this story that can be explored in flashbacks.

The return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, along with the rumors that Luke Cage and Danny Rand might be joining her, could very well mean that Season 2 will bring back some old threads from the other Netflix shows.

Will Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 set up Avengers: Doomsday?

While Kingpin did mention Spider-Man once or twice during Season 1, it's doubtful that Daredevil will have any direct story connections with any movie despite the fact that a March 2026 premiere would put its finale episode near the upcoming Avengers movie in May. Either Kingpin will no longer be mayor by the end of Season 2, or Avengers: Doomsday will be so catastrophic for Earth that it won't matter either way. No member of the Daredevil cast was included in the Doomsday lineup, and while Matt himself could still certainly pop up in that movie or its sequel, it probably won't be because of anything that happens on this show.

All seasons of the Daredevil series, whether the Netflix original or the new revival, are available to watch exclusively on Disney+. They've even got the Netflix Punisher spin-off series, and the original Ben Affleck movie.
